John Pavlovsky

John encourages a strong musical foundation thru song study, ear training, and music fundamentals.  He helps strengthens pitch recognition, and develops the ability to learn songs by ear, regardless of student’s initial aptitude; while establishing an understanding of music theory.  Student performances are encouraged, but not mandatory.

John’s goal is to direct as much information in the quickest amount of time; getting to the heart of what  students want to learn, whether it be reading music, learning rock songs, singing and playing, advanced lead, or jazz & blues repertoire. John provides a comprehensive study of the guitar, ultimately enabling students to teach themselves.

John is as Berklee College alum, and has performed and toured with Eagles, ZZ Top, Kiss,  Eric Clapton and Cream tribute bands. He leads John Pavlovsky’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Express student concert series. Adult students can also expect a chance to network and play music with other adult students. Several of John’s students have gone on to success in the Christian music industry; and as music educators, and professional guitarists.

John takes his cues from The Karate Kid’s Mr. Miagi, enjoying the dimensions of guidance, and interaction that teaching offers, going beyond performance. Awarding students, ”Most Valuable Player,” ”The Guitar Hero,” ”Best Supporting Guitarist in a Lead Role,” in his Rock ‘n’ Honor Roll ceremony, John first witnessed the positive effect of empowerment; watching student potential come to fruition during the following year.

John’s favorite place to travel is a tie between Alaska, and the beach.

Hobbies: drawing, playing baseball, tinkering with his ’66 Mustang.

Favorite places to hang out: Belcourt Theater/Titans Stadium/Barnes & Noble/his teaching room.
